Who We Serve
Busy Professionals
Many of our clients are engaged with their careers and value time with their friends and families. As a result, they need a trusted, certified financial planner to help them plan for their financial freedom. A customized financial plan supported by an investment plan and ongoing wealth management are the types of services our clients need.
Families
A family’s goals can be multidimensional and this requires the expertise and experience of financial planners in order to navigate the many issues that families face when making financial and wealth management decisions. It is more than just about money but includes support, lifestyle and legacy. The whole family becomes our client.
Pre-Retirees and Retirees
As people approach or enter retirement they often need help evaluating whether they have saved enough for retirement. They also have questions about how to turn their retirement savings into regular income and require help managing their investments to ensure their assets last through the rest of their lives. Determining when to take Social Security, managing healthcare needs and estate planning often enter their financial plan at this stage.
Business Owners
For many business owners, the most significant risk they have taken during their lives has been to start or purchase a business. Their personal finances are often deeply connected to their business affairs. As business owners ourselves, we understand the challenges that are involved in creating and maintaining a successful business. Our financial planning experience allows us to work with business owners and analyze their opportunities, risks and succession plans. Cash-flow, debt management, wealth management, and company retirement plans are important factors.
University of Kentucky Faculty and Staff
Moneywatch Advisors is fortunate enough to serve many clients who are faculty, staff, clinicians and researchers at the University of Kentucky. Because of that, we know the UK retirement and benefits plans, the investment options available at both Fidelity and TIAA, and other issues specific to UK employees.
Process
1. Initial Meeting
There is no charge for this meeting. It is primarily an opportunity for you and us to learn about each other and see if our financial planning and other services are a good fit for you and/or your family. Although not necessary, completing our Financial Questionnaire prior to this meeting can help facilitate the discussion and allow us to have the most productive meeting possible.
2. Contract
Our Investment Advisory Agreement will serve as the contract between us and you.
3. Goal Setting
We will work with you to help establish your long-term goals - and those milestones that may come first, such as college educations for children or a change in career.
4. Financial Plan
After our initial meeting, we will gather data from you to create your comprehensive financial plan specific to you and your circumstances and needs. Your plan will serve as a guide for you and us to help you achieve your goals and ensure you will be able to continue your current standard of living in retirement.
5. Financial Plan Review
After we have completed your financial plan we will review it together and discuss our recommendations. Budgeting, student loan management, income tax planning or estate planning often enter the process at this point. In addition, we will recommend how to structure your investment assets all together as a portfolio to support your financial plan.
5. Implementing Your Plan
Viewing all your accounts together as your investment portfolio - Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, workplace retirement plans such as 401(k)'s or 403(b)'s, etc. - we will help you implement an investment strategy designed specifically to move you toward your individual goals.
6. Ongoing Reviews
Although we welcome questions anytime, we like to meet with our clients quarterly to make sure we know what is happening in their lives and they can see the progress in their financial plan. In addition, we continually review the investments we recommend to our clients for performance to ensure they are still accomplishing their designated role within your portfolio.
