July 2016 Newsletter to Clients
Submitted by Moneywatch Advisors on July 7th, 2016Enjoy this month’s edition that features an update on the economy and stock markets in addition to highlights on TD Ameritrade’s electronic check deposit service and client seminar invitation…
Economy Overview: American consumers are better off today from one year ago…
- Personal Income is up 4%.
- Disposable Income (after-tax) is up 4.1%.
- Personal Consumption Expenditures are up 3.7%
- Personal Consumption Prices are up 0.9% (1.6% if you exclude food and energy)
- Real Personal Consumption Expenditures (inflation adjusted) are up 2.7%.
Higher purchasing power by American workers is a good thing especially since they are not binging on credit to fuel their purchases.
Stock Market: The knee-jerk reaction to Great Britain’s vote to exit the European Union with the stock market quickly down hundreds of points was the fault of the Press’ fear mongering. The stock market regained all it lost, suggesting it was the jerks who sold out of fear of what no one really understood. The long view is the best view. We would be willing to bet Warren Buffett was adding to his favorite stock holdings during the ‘sale’ last week.
